In the past week or so I've had a revelation...! I'm actually excited about getting up and drawing in the mornings now
I feel like my work is definitely taking on a particular style and while it may not be the most creative or imaginative, it's mine and I'm enjoying every bit of it
I can't believe how worked up I used to get one something wasn't "perfect" (ie. realistic) I loved art at school but it obviously ingrained this rigid sense of what was perceived to be "good" and "bad" art which I can see is completely ridiculous now.
The illustrations I've been working on are so refreshing and they've really made me start to love what I do again. I went through a period at uni where I barely drew and even thinking about picking up a pencil made me feel ill. On the one hand, I had a blast with my photography and I can see how much uni helped with that side of my art but it crushed my confidence in the drawing and painting area.
This 365 project has been a brilliant idea! Sometimes I take a few days to draw something but it's really got me in the mood and now I can't wait to pick up my pen and get going!
Thanks to all my friends for putting up with these different changes and thank you to all my new watchers!
Your support means a lot to me
Hello friends
I'm back!....Again...! ...For the 3rd time... or is it 4th?
I'm going to do another sweep of my gallery in the next few days to make room for work made THIS CENTURY! Seriously though. 3 years since my last upload? I should hang my head in shame. I don't even really have much to show for it. I'm at a point where I can officially put Illustrator as my job title and only hesitate briefly but being a primarily a sort of copy artist or specially commissioned artist I tend to tackle lots of different styles for work and it's meant my personal art style has suffered over the years.
I''ve had a tidy up of old artwork and sorted all my art files out
Look who's back. Laura's back!
Not quite such a long hiatus as some previous times I think but long enough!
So, since my last journal, I have indeed bought myself a Mac (at long last!) I also have Photoshop and I am loving every minute of it! Although my photography has suffered because of it, my portfolio is growing every week now.
I have a few things to upload and maybe clear out or just organise work in my gallery which I will be doing this week.
Hello to all my DA friends :D
Long time, no see!
Wowzers! I haven't updated my journal in over a year!! A lot has happened since then and I'm hoping to be around a little more often (for the moment anyway!)
I can't remember if I even mentioned this before but I'm working with a design studio and art agency and have recently moved from London to the sunny Worthing (or so they say) on the south east coast of England, just a stop or two from Brighton.
I'm now living in a flat with a friend which is AMAZING! Ok, it's not that amazing, but the views definitely are! We're so lucky to have got the place and it's so exciting to finally be living more independently rather than in a shared house.
Getting stuck in!
I can't believe I'm actually planning a project out for once! Normally I just dive right in and get all tangled up in the mess I create by not having anything to lean on.
I'm hoping to turn this into a comic or short story :)

Brilliant!! I see so many "artist block" type journals on here that it's wonderful and refreshing to see someone celebrating their love of their work!! I'm happy for you!! and long may it continue!!
